Would you believe -- radio tracking devices on all Italian import firearms?

Well . . .  if I didn't read it from the distributor, I wouldn't have believed it -- but -- it seems in Italy, all firearms must have a radio frequency identification device for security and other purposes.  It's Italian government mandated, and while they claim "big brother" is not currently electronically monitoring your firearm -- you'd better remove the sucker before they do.  According to Chiappa Firearms -- it's hot glued inside the grip, and easily removed.  Their distributor even shows you how on their blog. "Shults Media Relations, LLC" .  Atsa not nice!

  1. John, any idea how long they have been doing this. How long has the Italian law been in place? I purchased an Italian Shotgun about 12 months ago.

  2. I've been asked for further details on this, and my response is that I don't have any. This info came thru the named distributor, and if you have further interest you'll have to check it thru yourself.

  3. The first thing that came into my mind is ,"Is this really possible?".But then again, I think everything is possible in modern technology.

  4. To clarify -- my info on this was from a circular sent by the distributor. I have no information beyond that. My understanding from the circular was it was required of all firearms manufactured in Italy. I may be wrong, nor will I be researching it further.
